Mission
The Utility Solid Waste Activities Group is an association primarily dedicated to advancing and improving the management of wastes and the beneficial use of materials associated with the generation, transmission, or distribution of electricity and natural gas. The Corporation’s mission includes representing the industry’s interests in the formulation of public policy relating to:
- pollution prevention and waste minimization
- recycling and beneficial use of secondary and recovered materials
- solid and hazardous waste management
- assessment and remediation of contaminated sites
- management of petroleum and other substances in tanks, containers, and equipment
- regulation of chemicals and toxic substances
- transportation of materials subject to the Hazardous Materials Transportation Act
USWAG’s primary mission is to promote public policies, based on sound science, that protect human health and the environment in a flexible and cost-effective manner under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, the Toxic Substances Control Act, the Hazardous Materials Transportation Act, and other related statutes.
